You really can’t complain about DT’s search function. However, I would be particularly interested in searching for certain formatting in the text. For example, text that is in magenta. I read in this forum that this is not possible with DT.

With a regex only if the color is part of the raw data, as in RTF. Writing that regex is probably similar to getting your molars pulled without anesthesia.
With a script – in RTF and PDF, if PDFKit behaves itself and if you really want to go down the way of iterating over attributed strings.
There are no colors per se in HTML or MD. For HTML, you’d have to look at the calculated attributes of every text node. Not my idea of fun. MD – you must first convert that to HTML and then … see before.
Just another argument for using semantic instead of visual markup.
