searching text files

i’m new to devonthink and need some help…i imported a folder of txt files into a database but they don’t seem to be getting scanned during a search. i’ve been putting search terms i know exist in the documents and they don’t come up. any suggestions?

My guess is that your search terms are too exclusive.

Select Tools > Search. Click on the Options button and examine the settings. Try All, All Words, Ignore case, Any state, Any label, Database.

Now run some searches. Any results?

I use the Tools > Search window for running searches, because the options are easily available, as are the Spelling and Context buttons.

thanks…i didn’t realize the default search was case-sensitive…after much frustration, that little change straightened things out…

Thanks for the question and the reply. I had the same problem. It would be nice if the “find” window were governed by preferences instead of the whole toolbar thing. But I’m not complaining. This is the app I’ve been looking for during all the years I struggled with filemaker.
