See-Also text jumping bug?

What I tried to capture was an intermittent problem that I have found with DTP3 and also in DTP4. Could be user error but it has bugging me for a while now.

It happens when I am using the See-Also feature. In this case I would like to file a document from the Global Inbox to a folder titled “ai impact on individuals” that is in another database. I know that it is there because a few minutes previously I created it. As may be seen in the video as I start writing “ai impact…” the cursor jumps back and deletes the text that I am writing. It does it several times. Often longer than what was recorded. In the video, it eventually finds the folder but when I move the mouse cursor (yes, I know, I can just hit enter) the selection moves to another folder, and in this case I ended up sending the document to the wrong folder.

Any suggestions to stop the cursor from deleting my text?

  1. You should not have DEVONthink 3 and 4 available on the same account, on the same Mac.
  2. Please make sure to provide the appropriate details like what version of DEVONthink and operating system you’re running.
  3. Is this window in full screen?

Just to clarify, I saw the same behavior when I had DTP3 installed. Currently I only have DTP4 installed. It seems to be the same behavior with both versions.

Do you have any text expansion utilities running?

Was a background process shown in the Activity pane or panel?

None. But your question is interesting. Going to look into possible background processes. But right off the top I can’t think of any that may interfere.

Or maybe any smart rules which are performed every minute?
