There are still upvotes on this thread, but it’s well worth mentioning that the new DEVONthink 4 includes a feature to automatically include (and reference!) attachments for imported e-mails. Well done @BLUEFROG @cgrunenberg @eboehnisch and all!

Indeed, they can be automatically imported, if desired.

I won’t be touching DT4 until it’s out of Beta and I can update my OS from 13 to 15 after my current gig ends. But this one bit of info is very exciting news.
Matter of fact all the news about DT4 is exciting.

Last year I wrote a script to separate attachments from e-mails (.eml files). Recently I updated this script to make it more effective and efficient. The script does the following: Check (via Python script) each individual email for non-inline attachments that should be imported into DT. The script ignores e.g. .ics attachments or winmail.dat attachments - see the Python script for what it ignores. Convert the e-mail to RTF and check which attachments from the RTF match the found attachments …
