When I save an article to DT, I usually save it as a Markdown document. However, occasionally I need to save it as a PTF document. When I do so, however, the text is too small for my old eyes. Is there some way to set the text size in the process of saving it as a PTF to a larger size?
I’m guessing you mean RTF.
I need to save it as a PTF document.
Please clarify what you mean by this. You save it how exactly?
I will also assume you are talking about RTF (rich text format).
In general you can set the default size of RTF text in preferences:
In addition you can change the text size for an individual note using the handy A icon:
I appreciated your post, but that is the highlight “handy A icon”. I think you meant the font “handy A icon” to use after selecting the text you want to change.
Sorry about the confusion. I’m trying to save as PDF documents. But the text size is so small and I haven’t been able to resize the text.
No worries!
I’m trying to save as PDF documents.
Trying to save PDFs from where, specifically? Details matter.
Also, if you are clipping PDFs and the page width is too wide, set DEVONthink’s Settings > Files > Multimedia > PDF Clipping Width to 612 and clip the page again.
Most of the time I’m clipping items from my news reader, News Explorer. Sometimes I’m clipping from a website – e.g. NYTimes, or The Guardian, etc.
If you have PDFs you may want to learn the keyboard shortcuts. See:
View (in top toolbar) > Zoom
In general, I have these keyboard shortcuts memorized: command-0 for full size, command-= for zoom to fit.
As per previous post yesterday you can set the default size of the PDF viewing area. See below. (There may be other settings you can tweak.)
Did you set the PDF Clipping Width per my instructions?
Yes
Post a screen capture of the resulting PDF in DEVONthink along with details about what application you clipped it from and by what method.
I apologize for going on about this, but I’m still having problems.
Here, however, is something interesting I stumbled upon. If I download an article as a Markdown document and then apply the convert action to create a PDF document, the result is a perfectly formatted PDF document with an appropriate text size. Strange, isn’t it?
?
