Whenever I import a PDF file, the “Size” column in DTP is always less (sometimes significantly less). Is this referring to the size of the words in the file? If I then export the file, what I see on disk is identical to the original.

The Size column refers only to internal data but the file size shown in the Info panel should be the size you’re looking for.
