Slow startup of DNote

Even after registering DevonNote I sometimes find the time to startup extremely slow. Strangely, it happens in my home environment with no additional computers added, but fires up blindingly fast in a pure windows environment with hundreds of PCs.
What is the point I am missing? How do get DN to start up in a decent time span?

PS: I just found out that after unplugging my from my network, DevonNote starts up fast. Does it connect to the internet every time? How do I prevent that?[/b]

Change the preferences, Updates tab, to never check for updates. By default, DEVONnote downloads a small text file with the most recent version number to tell you if your software is out-of-date.
