Smart rule problem: move to trash after convert

Hi,

I searched the forum, but I didn’t find a hint, why only of my two rules works as it should. The PNG-files gets deleted, the html-file stays in the inbox.

Any ideas?

Andreas

You could try to

  • set the global preference “OCR/Original: move to trash”
  • and remove the Move to trash from your smart rule.

Those are my settings, and they work just fine with a smart rule that OCRs PDFs using “OCR apply” after importing from a scanner.

This preference doesn’t affect smart rules. But in the second rule the OCR > Apply action is unnecessary.

Because a PDF converted from HTML does obviously contain a text layer (unless the HTML contains only image(s), I guess  – though I’m not sure what the PDF created from that contains).

Why aren’t you just clipping directly to paginated PDF?

I got used to ‘SingeFile’ for clipping.

Indeed! Thanks for the tip.

And the html file gets moved to the trash - although I don’t understand, what makes the difference.

Then why aren’t you just using the HTML from SingleFile?

PDF seems more like a ‘real’ document to me - and sometimes I use the file outside of DevonThink.
