Stupid question - auto-closing folders(groups)

I’m probably missing something really basic here, so sorry about the basic question.

When I’m working in a folder (group) hierarchy I might have something like this open

My database
    Folder 1
    Folder 2
        Folder 2.1
        Folder 2.2
        Folder 2.3
    Folder 3
    Folder 4
        Folder 4.1
            Folder 4.1.1
        Folder 4.2
        Folder 4.3
    Folder 5

Now assume that I want to create a folder 2.1.1, what I now see is this

My database
    Folder 1
    Folder 2
        Folder 2.1
            Folder 2.1.1
        Folder 2.2
        Folder 2.3
    Folder 3
    Folder 4
    Folder 5

I get a bit irritated that DT auto-closes the folder hierarchy I have opened. Where can I set it to not do this? I assume there is a setting somewhere

Does it make a difference when “Retain View” is enabled (Settings > General > General)?

Unfortunately not.

Is the option to automatically expand.& collapse it (see Preferences > General) enabled?

Sigh, I knew it was something simple !!! Thanks, that fixed it
