Sync problem fetching the remote database

I’ve been trying to sync a couple of databases from one Mac with another through Dropbox. I’ve uploaded the database contents from Mac 1 to Dropbox successfully (I think), but when I try to import them into DevonThink on Mac 2 (by clicking the Import Database button in the Sync Preferences ) I consistently get this message: “There was a problem fetching the remote databases.”

I’ve deleted the data from Dropbox and started again clean, but I keep getting the same error on Mac 2.

Any ideas?

You could perhaps try to get around the obstacle:

  • syncing from Mac 1 to Mac 2 (if they are on the same LAN)?
  • and then syncing again from Mac 2 to DropBox?
