I’d like to ask if it is a good or bad idea to sync the same database via multiple locations (e.g., Dropbox and CloudMe) at the same time just as a precaution that one of them fails.

It’s not a bad idea. I suppose it depends on whether you’re paying money for storage space on each.

If you are thinking of sync as a sort of backup, it’s not a good idea. Sync isn’t built for backups.
No, I do not. I back up databases locally with Time Machine, clone my HD with Carbon Copy Cloner daily and for online backup I use Backblaze.
