Syncing (missing the blindingly obvious!)

Software in use: -

DTTG2 and DT Pro 2.9.2

Since moving up to DTTG2 I have noticed that my syncing isn’t working as it should, in that not all of the databases in DT Pro are coming across to DTTG2, despite having items in mobile sync on DT Pro databases. Many hours of scratching my head, fiddling with settings, reading help files and watching DT videos has produced nothing.

What is the blindingly obvious thing that I am missing that decides whether a database in DT Pro is synced with DTTG2? Explanations in words of one syllable will obviously be beneficial to this user!

Thanks a lot

Is there a sync store? Is data in sync store? Did you choose data base in set-up?

If by syncstore you are talking about a cloud based storage then no - I am hoping that it is just syncing between OSX and iOS

Thanks

Andy

DEVONthink 2.9.x and DTTG2 do not use mobile sync any more.

I suggest you might want to re-read the sections in DEVONthink Help on how to set up Sync and the corresponding sections in DTTG2 help on how to configure it.

It’s a bit difficult to diagnose a general “it doesn’t work” problem without having a bit of information on what you’ve attempted and why what the Help instructions say do not work for you.

Ah ha! That would make perfect sense. However it says in DT Pro/System Preferences/Sync that there is a local network option AND some of the databases have synced across to DTTG2, so I you might understand my confusion!

OK, I have Dropbox so I will use that. Thank you very much for your help.

Maybe post a screenshot – blank out the personal info.

REMEMBER: You should never put your databases in a Dropbox (or other cloud-synced) folder or you could irreparably damage them. Never. The safest location is somewhere in ~/Documents.

Also, in the Dropbox application’s Preferences > Account > Selective Sync, make sure you uncheck the Apps/DEVONthink Packet Sync.

Is there a similar action that we need to do for Box? I didn’t see anything n preferences.

Other than keeping your databases out of a local Box folder, none that I’m aware of.
