Permanote seems to be a nice alternative to 1Writer (which I found would have trouble seeing text files that were several folders deep). It evolved from Nebulous Notes, I believe.
I was a huge nvALT user until a few months ago when I made the move to Apple’s Notes app. Once Brett releases his new app, I may well switch back.
