I started using Devonthink Pro to keep all my tax related receipts. As it is a new year, I would like to start a new database. However, I would love to be able to use my previous year’s database as a template. In other words, the same group folder structure but without the contents. Is there anyway to do this?
Sure. But you will have to do some drudge work this year.
Make a copy of the previous year’s tax records database and delete the contents of each of its folders. Then import into that database this year’s tax data, and move the contents into the appropriate groups.
Going forward, if you are using your default database to collect tax records as you go along, import the group structure of the new database before you populate it with records. As stuff comes in, file it appropriately in that structure in your default database. At the end of the year it’s ready for export/import into a new year’s database.
