There were two threads on this a year ago, but I can’t find any other mention of it since.
Has there been any progress with a preference to enable Text Substitution to be on by default for all new documents? At the moment, as far as I can see, you have to invoke it individually for each new document, which is a bit of a pain if you create many documents. Saving a new template with the feature selected doesn’t work for me.

Right now only Smart Quotes, Smart Copy/Paste and Data Detectors can be enabled via preferences. But we might add another preference for substitution.

That would be very helpful - at the moment I’m annotating a large number of photographs with a new note for each batch. There’s a lot of repetitive text and it would be useful to have text substitution on by default.
