Feature request re the behaviour of the sorter.
The scenario: I am looking at a web page and want to drag and drop text into a note or rtf when I am doing research. I may do this several times making a longer text file.
If I drag the text to the sorter in DT3 it defaults to the search field…even if you try and move the cursor over the note field it stays in the search field.
Why not use the Copy Selection hotkey instead? (See Preferences > Sorter.)
Yes… That works. If you do it repeatedly it adds to the same note.
Thanks
You’re welcome

As long as the note isn’t added. Do bear in mind, this could lead to data loss if DEVONthink crashed or the machine powered down, etc. Perhaps @aedwards would have a comment or thought about that.
Dragging any content to the Sorter’s icon will always open the Search view as it is primarily designed for adding files to a group in your search list.
When the Sorter window closes any unfinished note should be saved to a temporary area, however this is primarily for short term recall of the note and should not be relied on in the event of a power down or crash
