When I perform a search in my pile of PDFs in Devonthink, the search results in a list of PDFs where a match has occurred. That’s all good. Next, I look through the list to find those matches that are relevant to the specific question I’m working on – that might be all of the matches from the search, but often it’s just a few. Human eyes are needed here.
Is there a way to remove irrelevant matches from the list? For example, by clicking on XX? So, I as a result can have a cleaned list from the original search.
I’m not sure if I am looking for a technical solution or it is just a matter of a better workflow
That’s not possible.
You could “regroup” the relevant documents. For example, assign them the rating of one (*). If you are not already using this for something else, you can then search for exactly these documents and get a list of only relevant documents.
I do this when I want to temporarily “bring together” documents that are spread across different groups. Once the work is done, I delete the (*) again.
Maybe it could be more elegant, but for me it’s elegant enough
Thanks for the suggestion! I haven’t thought of that solution, but it will work! It does not have to be elegant as long as it works
It works At the beginning I used the “Flag” option. But this only works for “saving” one search. With * 5 searches can be temporarily filtered and saved. With the smart group in the sidebar I can easily display the documents. The top group shows all documents with a rating.
