Yes. Use the State in the Info panel of your To-Do groups and documents.
That creates checkable boxes. Note that the State of a group will then reflect the State of the documents it contains: all finished, partially finished, all unfinished.
You might use the Horizontal Split view as a convenient way to display your To-Do group and subgroups.
