UI: Databases over Smart Groups

Hi,

I would love to be able to put “Databases” before “Smart Groups” in DTTG.
I.e. instead of the order:

  • Global
  • Smart Groups
  • Databases

it would be fantastic to have a toggle allowing to actually change the order based on user’s needs. Personally I would go with:

  • Global
  • Databases
  • Smart Groups

Motivation is simple: personally, I tend to jump to databases normally, and use smart groups in specific cases (like filtering on all audio files). With number of smart groups growing (which is great - hoping to see these tags-based smart groups), the scrolling down to databases gets longer.

That is not the default order in the Navigate sidebar.

  • Global
  • Databases
  • Smart Groups

Above is the default order.

Here is the default order:

  • Favorites
  • Globals
  • Open Databases
  • Active database if using non-unified databases
  • Recent Databases (as needed)
  • Smart groups
  • Smart rules

This is what happens when you’re reading the forums when you should be sleeping :stuck_out_tongue:

Currently you can’t reorganize the home screen of DEVONthink To Go.
Perhaps in the future it may be.
