Unexpected behaviour: drag tag from inspector to destination creates text file

Noticed an unexpected behaviour today. Dragging a tag from the inspector of an item to the sidebar or to the item list creates a text file in the destination location.

My intended action was to create a replicant of that tag.

Is that a group tag or an ordinary tag located in the Tags group? Replicating ordinary tags outside the Tags group would convert them to group tags (if enabled in the database properties) or convert the tag to a group.

It’s an ordinary tag. The intention is to create a group tag which also exists in the tags folder of the database.

The intention is to create a group tag which also exists in the tags folder of the database.

Why?

When a tag originates as a normal tag and then is replicated as a tags folder, it allows the original tag to be the canonical source. It’s a more resilient way to categorize incoming items. Tag folders alone can change or move, be archived or deleted, or lose their tag status fairly easily.
