Unreliable automatic Bonjour sync

Thanks for the quick response. I understand the not-constant nature. For me, it will NEVER sync to dropbox if its not the front window.

I just changed it to “manual sync every minute”, and now it neither syncs NOR throws the NSURL error.

Edit spoke too soon. there’s another NSURL error, just not every minute.

And does this persist after rebooting the machine?

Tested just now. Yes the problem persists.

The ipod and ipad don’t have problems with that dropbox sync, they can sync files back and forth.

I do not have the dropbox app installed on the mac. But while researching this problem I installed it only to check the settings and make sure it was able to communicate with its servers, etc.

I also deleted any smart rules, thinking they might be interfering.

  • Otherwise empty dropbox.
  • No other sync store running
  • Cleaned and setup a new dropbox location.
  • Database is ~500 items. ~50mb of .md files and screenshots

I do have a slow internet connection but I monitor it and make sure it’s not saturated, etc.

Good thought but the Dropbox application isn’t used by our sync engine.

Sometimes better than the advertised Mbps: 5 down, 1 up

Because it’s so slow, I use ethernet, a decent router and switch and monitor the traffic closely because any upload will saturate it. At the moment, during this test, I’m getting 1.25 up.

Wheww! That is pretty slow. Is it a rural connection?
