Upper Limit on Image Imports

I have reached what I believe to be 10,000 images in my DT database, and I cannot bring in any more. If I delete one image from the database, I can import one only. I am not sure the exact number I have in the database, but it is close to 10,000. Is there an upper limit for images, or am I missing something (not the first time)?
