Use case of DT server? share your experience

Dear community,

I am currently using DT Server to run a group library for a 10 people team (we are expected to triple in the next two years), and most of my colleagues work remotely around the world.

If you have similar use case, could you please share your experience? Specifically it would be good to know:

  • What is your workflow with DT Server look like? do you have a specific administrator that you send your documents to and he/she will take care of everything?
  • How do you set up your tags? For me the idea is to keep tags as few but high-level as possible, so I want to exclude content-related tags, but only tags like name of people who submit the document, and project name (but since some documents are cross projects and might be useful for future project that we don’t know yet, so I am still wondering how to do this…) etc,. do you have any suggestions on this?
  • Do you really use web sharing? As far as I understand, the web interface could not be accessed by multiple users at the same time and it is not realistic to communicate every time beforehand so that everyone could have their “library time”. What do you do when your colleagues want to retrieve documents they save? do they rummage themselves or does the administrator act as a librarian and find the documents for them?

Thank you!

Best
Alex

Yes I use DT Server extensively for my solo professional practice - I have staff who regularly process new documents from clients and upload them to the server for my later review.

I have never encountered a conflict with multiple users at the same time as long as each has his own login to the server.
