Using DEVONthink to organize (cook)books and reading?

I initially added epub cookbooks to Devonthink to tag and search them. However, Devonthink takes time to scan and open epub books, which are slower than PDFs.

To improve search speed, I converted all epub books to PDFs. Now, search is much faster.

However, I miss the nice layout of epub books. To maintain quick search and indexing, I deleted all epub files from Devonthink and kept only PDFs.

But if I want to have a more enjoyable reading experience, I open epub books in Finder and use Apple Books to read them.

I wonder if there’s an improvement to my workflow. I’m curious about other approaches for similar use cases.

Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!

That is how i do it. But my ebook library not big but they are technical in nature so refer to them in one window while my writing tool and DEVONthink in another two windows.

I see! Thanks for sharing. Good to know I’m not the only one

I guess then I’ll stick to my setup. I get super nice search in devon, but if I need to dive deeper into the book — Apple Books it is
