Using Tags?

Sorry, another Newbie question here … I can’t get the hang of using tags. I’ve read what I think is the relevant part of the manual, watched the 20 min video, checked the FAQs etc but I could still have missed it. Can someone please point me to the reference that tells me how to add a tag to a file or group of files? Thanks.

Open help file. Search for “tag”. The first result is “Appendix: Tagging”. That’s helpful, but as you point out, what’s missing is “where?”.

In the document tool bar (right above the document preview in three-panes view) is this “Show/Hide Tags” toggle at the end of the row:

With that activated, the tagging bar is at the bottom of the document preview. With no tags assigned, the bar looks like this:

Type your tag(s) into that bar, hitting Return at the end of each tag to finish it. You can also add (or append) tags to a multiple selection of documents - as long as they all have no tags, or the same tags. If those documents have different tags then there are scripts available in the forum to handle that situation. (I don’t have time right now to find those scripts for you, so that exercise is extra credit :unamused: )
