I am planning to use versioning in a database in DEVONthink 4.0.2. Are there any problems to be expected when I use that database in DEVONthink 3 on my Macbook?
No, but logically you won’t have any versions in 3.

Understood. I guess in DEVONthink 3 I will have the latest version available, which will be fine. I am in the middle of a big project and have to wait some time before I can update DEVONthink on my MacBook.
Yes, the current version will be synced, not a previous version. They aren’t transported with the document.
They are. Databases are identical on all devices, including invisible versions.
