What is the DevonThink syncing strategy?

I’m not a newcomer to cloud computer or “syncing” mechanisms. For years I’ve been doing my daily work using git and Dropbox, for example. But DevonThink Sync somehow puzzles me. Its behavior, whether by accident (problems with my setup) or design, is not perfectly predictable on my end. May I submit a set of questions (some of them obvious, for the sake of completeness) to circumscribe what exactly is supposed to get synced and under what conditions? For example:

  1. Are item deletions synced? (My impression so far: Yes they are, at least with imported items.)
  2. Is the “empty trash” action likewise played back?
  3. If I delete a synced item in DevonThink only (not in Finder), is the deletion played back? Or will the synced item remain in the DevonThink database of the other machine(s)?
  4. Are changes to the index itself played back? Or do I need to update the index manually on each machine after syncing? In other words: is the index included in the .dtSyncStore file?
  5. Is the order of items in each group synced (when “View > Sort” is set to “Unsorted”)?
  6. Is the “View > Sort By” setting itself synced for each group?
  7. Is the “View As Icons | List | Columns (etc.)” setting synced for each group?
  8. If I rename an indexed file via the DT interface (not via the Finder), thereby triggering a rename in the filesystem, is the file going to be renamed on the filesystem of the other machines after syncing?

Several of these questions may appear obvious but I’ve had the occasional odd reaction, and I’d like to know exactly what to expect. Thanks in advance.

Only the order isn’t synchronized, everything else should be synchronized.

Thanks, @cgrunenberg. Thus is unfortunate because it limits the utility of DT as an heavy-duty outlining tool. (And DT has everything else that it takes to excel in that area also.) May we look forward to a fix in the future?

Maybe. But at least the upcoming new sync won’t support this either.
