Some posts here suggest making a zip file of the database before archiving it.
I was wondering what purpose this serves other than compressing the file.
Could I just drag the closed database to an external drive?
Also reduces the likelihood that the backup will be accidentally opened.
Also result in much faster copy to the external drive.
