# Where is the DT3 database on my Mac

I cannot find the DT3 database in `~/Databases`  
Where is it? I can only find DT2 in Devonthink Databases in the Documents folder

If you are referring to the file extension .dt2, it does not change with DT3. The DB format is apparently the same in both 2 and 3. Unless you have created or moved a database to the ~/Databases folder it will be empty.

And just to clarify: the extension of a DEVONthink database is **.dtBase2**.

Do not confuse this with a **.dtp2** file found via a Spotlight search in the Finder. That is only a Spotlight metadata file and a pointer to a file in a DEVONthink database. It is **not** the file itself. See…
