Working with text files

Is there any hope that DEVONthink might be able to read in any random text file. Given that OS X is running unix it is trivial to figure out if the file is text or not (points to the file command). Yet when I try to add things like a README file it doesn’t let me, even though file shows the file to be text.

[jigglypuff:~/src/darwinports] gblake$ file README
README: ASCII English text

Any easy way around this? Having to go and add .txt to everything I’d like to add is kind of a pain in the neck.

Interesting idea. I’ll forward this to Christian, our developer, and he’ll have a look at it.
