I don’t use 3PV. But I think the screen capture in this post demonstrates very well that some(many) users really need an equivalent function.
Perhaps DT really should consider adding a 4th view to the three existing preview panes to mimic 3PV - even if the navigation bar is going to be the long term decision. This will be beneficial to all users, too (Just IMHO).
