The title encapsulates my question: Is there a terminal command to toggle between manual and automatic sync?

There’s no such command and it’s not recommended to change internal preferences. What’s the desired purpose of the command?

Ah, OK. I thought it might be good for there to be a ‘sync mode’ toolbar item, so that one can quickly toggle the sync state. At the moment you have to open preferences, go to the sync tab and choose from there. It’s no big deal, but since there are times when I’d like to keep sync manual and others when it seems OK to use let things sync automatically, I wondered if there was an easier way of changing the sync mode.

Only by closing the app, changing internal prefs and relaunching the app. Not really an easier way.

OK - but hang on - you’re not saying that the app should be re-launched after changing sync mode in prefs are you?

No, changing preferences via the user interface does never require a restart.
