I have disabled the ad blocker in my DT4 preferences. Yet, when I try to view in the DT web browser some pages that I stored as “Web location” I still get the “It looks like you’re using an ad blocker” from some sites.
For example, the one I typically have problems with is AllMusic.com. I have stored a bunch of links to albums and almost none of them will display in the DT browser because of the ad blocker issue.
Thank you for the quick reply. I hadn’t thought of that. You are talking of the “Empty cache” in the DEVONthink menu, right? I did that and I still get the ad blocker popup. I tried to quit DT4, close and reopen the database where I store the links, with “Empty cache” between all steps. No change. I still get the “You’re using an ad blocker” pop up.
By chance is there an ad blocker running somewhere in your network, e.g. on the router as some can do that. Or something on your, if applicable, a corporate network?
I’m running this from home, with no specific adblocker on my router (and this is verified both on Firefox and Safari, where pages load fine after I disable the adblocker extension).
I apologize for the late reply. Work, then health, went in the way. I don’t see anything in my settings that looks suspicious. It couldn’t be plugins, could it?
What I do is store links to albums I want to buy. Sometimes I drag the link from the browser (Firefox) to DT4, other times I use Clip to DEVONthink. It makes no difference: I get the “disable your ad blocker” either way.
Then I have no idea what may well be the problem on my end (same system and DT versions here) Oh well, it’s not as if this was a major, show-stopping issue. I can continue clicking on the links in DT to view the pages in Firefox as I do now. I feel that I have wasted enough of your time. Thank you for trying.
