I’d wish that when pressing ALT, the “add” button on the sorter becomes “add and open” so that I can continue editing something I jotted in sorter which ends up needing more editing comfort.
The sorter is great for starting to jot immediately but is not comfortable for when the content starts to grow, like for discussion notes, and I’d like to be able to jump to the normal DT editor right from the sorter without having to think about it (during the discussion).
In the meantime one workaround might be to use the command Go > To Last Destination (Cmd-L) after entering the note. Other ideas coming to my mind are to use a smart rule and a certain attribute (e.g. a tag “Open”) to open the document or the History global smart group to find the document.
Again having this itch that my “capturing workflow” is hindered by the sorter.
I start typing (conversations/thinking/audio-transcription) notes in the sorter and often (but not always) it gets too clumsy to edit them after, say 12 lines and I wish to just save and open in a decent editing window in an uninterrupted manner.
I know I just repeat myself, but mosquito bites always itch twice
Thank you for the suggestion, I will forward this request. In the meantime another possibility might be to use a smart rule to open the notes (either all of them or e.g. only those with a certain tag or name suffix)
Thx! The “meantime solution” I use is the shortcut to create a new markdown document and edit it, when I know the note will be stored in DT: I use the sorter as a notepad for things that also won’t end up as an item in DT, just a quick write and then cut-and-paste somewhere else. The issue is: I don’t always know in advance, just start typing…
