AI chat does not work in DEVONthink help

AI chat does not work in DEVONthink help.

Specifically, clicking on the chat input box has no response, and it is impossible to input text to use the AI features normally.

I have configured the model in the settings, and the AI chat works fine in the database(it can converse and summarize.)

My computer system is macOS Tahoe 26.3, and DEVONthink’s version number is 4.2.1.

I have reinstalled the software itself, but it still doesn’t work.

Local AI engines do not work with DT help.

You should not be reinstalling the software trying to resolve such issues, with any application. It rarely fixes anything and also removes information useful to support. Reinstallation is a last resort, not a first one.

if you are trying to use a local LLM for DT help, one thing I’ve done is created a group just for that purpose and put the DT manual there. Then I select the manual and ask my questions to the LLM as I would any other documents

I tried the various options and found that the remote-based AI models, Ollama (remote) and OpenAI (Compatible), also cannot be used in DEVONthink Help. Is this normal? Is there a plan to make these compatible with DEVONthink Help in the future?

Local models vary wildly in their capabilities (and tendencies to hallucinate) and the three commercial models present known entities we can fine-tune with. So while it may happen, it wouldn’t be simply done.
