Annotating a PDF using the text-box toolbar item

This item is about creating annotations to a pre-existing PDF in a database.
I have noted that there is a previous thread for this question but the answer does not work.
I am using DT3 3.9.4 on MacOS 14.3.

If the PDF in my database is not read-only in DT3, I can add text boxes at various places within the document, and a pop-up dialog appears into which I must type the required annotation. However the facilities to change the text style and a few other properties are disabled.
see below:

I can get the font dialog open with Command-T but it has no effect on the text in the text box.
This is a bit annoying since the annotated text size is huge compared with the PDF text size.
I have tried all the usual MacOS user interface shortcuts and menu items for that sort of thing but to no avail.
I have checked the DT3 settings and I cannot see a default font/text size setting for text box annotations there either.

So, would someone be able to pass on the secret to me please?

Close the Annotations panel after entering the text, then open the font panel and the selected font should be applied (as the font panel uses the frontmost window, we’ll try to improve this in an upcoming release). The next time you’re going to add a text note the same font will be used again.

Solved. Thank You

The next release will support changing the font also while the Annotations panel is visible.

Thanks. I’ve just run into this, too. Any chance of at least adding the regular styles (italic, bold, bi) rather than just having one?

PDF text annotations do not support styled text (like rich text), therefore only the font can be chosen (including italic or bold fonts).
