Annotations on PDF won't let me set background color

When I add a text annotation to a PDF document in DTPO 2.8.5, and click on the “Fill Color”, nothing happens. Yet if I click on the “Color” region, I get the color picker as expected.

Any ideas why I can’t set the background color?

In the color picker itself even if I click the “background” checkbox, the color selection still only affects the text color itself.

Look forward to suggestions.

It appears that DEVONthink does not recognize background colors in text annotations. Annotation created in Preview on the left, below, same annotation viewed in DEVONthink Pro Office 2.8.5, on the right.

Then the dialog is incorrect and they should remove the fill color selection button.
