I’ve recently released a major update to my iOS app, Funnel.
Funnel is a simple and powerful quick capture app, which sends your captures directly to your favorite apps. Funnel integrates natively with DEVONthink, and various other apps.
Funnel 2.0 adds support for real-time voice transcriptions, image captions, control center widgets, a lifetime pricing option, and a whole lot more.
Funnel is an indie app at heart. Absolutely zero data collection, or any kind of analytics/tracking. Built in iCloud syncing, with end-to-end encryption.
Not to be too picky or partisan to the DEVONthink side but I think DEVONthink should be in that list of “popular apps like…” in the first paragraph of the main screen of the App Store. And not just because the three you do mention I have tried and found wanting for my needs.
Go Team DEVONthink!
thank you! and I agree - I will be updating the App Store description soon to overall better reflect on the apps Funnel natively supports (also keeping it more balanced).
And sure, if it’s within the context of DEVONthink, we could also use this thread. I don’t have a forum at the moment. But in the Feedback section in Funnel, you can get the email and social media links to reach out for questions.
Not sure I understand this app’s value. iOS shortcuts allow you to do most/all of this already. What’s the workflow? Open funnel, tap an action then where to save it? So funnel is then a front end/entry point to getting things into various apps instead of using share sheet/shortcuts?
iOS Shortcuts are great as well. With Funnel, since it is a dedicated tool for quick capture, there are areas where it can optimize on the quick capture aspect a bit more, such as:
• A rich markdown keyboard toolbar (undo/redo/bold/list/calendar buttons)
• Integration with live activities/dynamic island. For example, if we switch apps in the middle of a capture, or tap on a notification or a phone call, the capture is placed temporarily on the Dynamic Island and the lock screen.
• Easily capturing images with captions, voice dictation, text OCR scanning, sketches, etc.
• Being able to search or view previous captures across multiple apps.
• Support for various apps that don’t have great (or any) iOS Shortcuts.
Basically, I plan continue to optimize the app for this one use case.
In the end, most of these above are conveniences that some people can find useful (or use it alongside Shortcuts). But if Shortcuts already does the job well for you, then Funnel is probably not going to be needed.
Yes - Live Activities can have interactive buttons, and show up simultaneously (and be usable) on the Apple Watch, etc. I am experimenting on that side.
Currently, Funnel also has an iOS Shortcut (and a Control Center widget) which toggles the Live Activity to be permanently pinned as a sticky.
And hoping Apple expands on that feature this coming June with iOS 19 betas.
