The subject line explains it all I think. Has anyone made this and would like to share it?
As the excerpts/previews are just scans/images and as there’s no text to retrieve, I don’t think it’s possible to do a useful plugin at the moment.
In understand this point especially in regards to using a google books plugin for the DA search. But wouldn’t the plugin still work using its keyword in the address bar? (i.e. books. mysearchword)?

That’s of course possible - use Google.plist as a template, then modify the Name, Identifier, Info, Version and Keyword. Finally, replace “search?as_q=” with “books?q=” (see EngineURL).
