Arabic/Hebrew OCR Again, With a Suggestion

Hello,

I know this topic has been mentioned many times in this forum, and I learned that the repeated answer is that DEVONthink cannot include these two languages in OCR actions because of the extra cost that the ABBYY engine requires.

My suggestion: Could DEVONthink add an option when buying or renewing the yearly license to include these two languages in OCR for an extra cost in coordination with ABBYY?
This way, users would be free to pay for it, and DEVONthink would provide this service for those who want it at the extra cost.

Thank you in advance for your replies and help.

Faris

The suggestion is noted, with no promises.

I hope it will be possible.

Thank you so much.

Another easier option is to enable the integration of the Abbyy OCR (full version) purchased separately, which supports Arabic and Hebrew by default.

It’s “easier” only if FineReader provides a command line interface (since its AppleScript support is laughable). While such a CLI seems to exist for the Windows version, I couldn’t find anything on their (horrible) website regarding macOS. So, I doubt that the integration of a separately purchased Abbyy product is “easier”.

It might be simpler to get Tesseract to work with DT. And cheaper.

I am using “Keyboard Maestro” to automate from Abbyy to DT4

I Have Keyboard Maestro also, could you please tell me how?
Thank you.

Faris.

I’m scaning to a KM watched folder. anything new in that folder will be opened with Abbyy, OCR and exported to DT4
