Auto group stalls at "comparing images"

I am trying out the “Grouping similar” feature in DT3 pro (latest). I took a group of ~300 pdfs and clicked the Group similar command and it did a “comparing text” fairly quickly but then a new window “comparing images” opened and it didn’t go anywhere. I had to Force Quit DT. Retried it, same problem. This is very similar to a message from 2011 with the same complaint but which was closed in 2021.

What is going on?

Since I wrote this, I have tried several times to reproduce it, but no luck. So, I will hold the issue in abeyance until it happens and then will take up your suggestion.
