Automator Workflow Help Please

image 1.tiff (152 KB)I am a complete and utter novice at using Automator but it occurs to me that using it I may be able to accomplish a laborious task that I have set myself, the only trouble is I don’t know how to set about it! So if there is anyone who can help me set up a workflow to accomplish what I want to do I would be most grateful.

I want to scan old photographs and have them sent to a particular Database in DevonthinkPro called ‘Scans’ (see attached image). My scanner is a Lexmark P4350 and the software will allow me to send images to a folder on the desktop but not into DTP. My OS is OSX 10.6.4.

Is this possible to do?

It should be possible but it’s also possible using AppleScript. Version 2.0.3 includes several folder actions to import/index files added to a folder.

You could also try to send the scans to the global inbox (~/Library/Application Support/DEVONthink Pro 2/Inbox). DEVONthink Pro (Office) will import the items in this folder on startup and/or monitor the folder while running.
