I want to back up my writing, it is all within DevonThink.
If I copy the database file that looks like this “Writing.dtBase2” and I store that file on an external disk. Is that an effective backup? Are all my physical files actually residing within the folder Writing.dtBase2 ? Thanks.
Yes, the package contains all files but only if you didn’t index files/folders. Then you have to backup the external files/folders too.
Just to add to Criss’ comments: We strongly advocate proper primary backups using TimeMachine (or similar application) and external drives. Also, you should read the recent series of articles we posted: blog.devontechnologies.com/tag/backup/
