Battery Draining

Hi, since I installed DTG I noticed my iPad Pro 12.9" is really draining its battery. In two hours it lost half its battery. Did someone else notice this problem?
Regards

I’ve noticed that a few times - where I had the 12.9" plugged in, with it losing power - and the only ‘open’ app, in the background, was DTTG2. I simply assumed it to be some process that was caught - possibly related to syncing - in the background in a loop.

Killing the app, occasionally restarting the device did the trick - and it hasn’t happened frequently enough for it to bother me, and I’ve noticed it on other apps as well - so personally made peace with the fact that iOS, like macOS, occasionally has rogue processes in the background that spin up the old fans/chomp through battery.

That said, if it is happening all the time, then that would be something to bring to the attention of the developers.

Thanks for the reply. I am quite sure that it is something related to DEVONthink To Go 2, because I had this problem after uploading a lot of documents. Perhaps there’s a process that works in background and scans documents, or something similar.
It is the first time I have such a problem, and I use a lot of apps and my iPad Pro is only used for productivity tasks, not gaming or similar tasks.
Regards.

Or the Genius Bar at Apple. Could be a hardware issue. Does DTTG sync in the background when the app does not have the focus?

FWIW, I have the 12.9" iPad Pro and the 9.7" – the 12.9 does not hold a long charge no matter what I’m doing. A few hours at the best. And the 12.9 does not charge quickly when the display is active.

I have used DTTG 2 on both 12.9 and 9.7 and it seems that the iPads very irrationally uses power REGARDLESS of what app I am using.

When looking under Settings-Battery sometimes DTTG was the app draining the battery sometimes other apps. And I could not see a pattern.

After soft-reset it normally worked better (for a while).

I checked my battery both with battery apps and with Apple - no problem but it might be other hardware related problems or even iOS10 problems.

Main thing is that it was NOT the DTTG app but various apps and at various times - annoying.

DEVONthink To Go does not continue syncing in the background. Actually, iOS freezes any app in the background after 180 seconds and kills it eventually.

We have noticed, however, that sometimes such a frozen process begins to consume CPU cycles for no reason. Officially the app is dead in the water. We have not yet found out what could be causing this.

Today I noticed this behaviour on both my iPhone and my iPad again, too.

By resetting the iOS device (pushing power on/off and the home button) till the apple logo appears you can fix it for the moment. But in my experience it will come back.

When you set the sync intervall in the App settings to manual I can completly stop this battery drain in the background. I hope this works for you like it does for me.
