Bonjour/Mac vs Wifi/Webdav vs Bonjour/Webdav

My main DT3 database is stored on a Mac Pro. On the same network I operate a Synology NAS which I use to Sync to other Macs.

I would like to set up my iPhone and iPad with DTTG. Previously when I tried to set up my main large (300Gb) database with a thin sync to iOS it seemed to take too long to be practical using WebDAV over Wifi.

I got Bonjour working with the Mac as the sync sourace. It is syncing now to my iPhone and seems to be going faster than my prior WebDav Wifi attempts.

Two questions:

(1) Right now I disabled the Webdav sync and enabled only Bonjour. But that means it will not sync when out of my home. Is it OK for me to turn on both Webdav and Bonjour as sync sources on the iPhone? If so which will take preference?

(2) I see that my Synology Webdav server shows up separately for my Wifi network and as “.local” - which I think means that the Webdav server on the Synology NAS is offering to connect via Bonjour. Would that be preferred over the Bonjour connection to my Mac?

Yes, you can enable both.

Take preference in what way? If Bonjour isn’t available, it logically wouldn’t be used.

The WebDAV sync is not a Bonjour sync. Just because some process or hardware uses Bonjour to announce itself, that does not mean it’s doing the same thing. Your scanner / printer also has a Bonjour presence.

If I am at home then both Bonjour sync direct to the Mac or Wifi sync to Webdav would be available. What decides which one will be used?

If no sync is currently running, Bonjour should sync first.
