Bonjour sync problem: iPad as "server" iPhone as client

Hey there,

I’ve been using DT3 and DTTG on my iPad and iPhone so far. The Mac has only been used to sync two databases via Bonjour. Now I’d like to use the iPad as the server and keep the data synchronized with the iPhone. The Mac should no longer play a role for now.

According to the manual and various forum posts here in the forum, this shouldn’t be rocket science and should work just fine.

So I followed the steps described in the manual and in the “Bonjour Simplified” tip.

That part works fine. When I start DTTG3 on the iPhone, I can select the sync location mobile@localhost and the databases available on the iPad are displayed. However, the sync doesn’t actually work:

The connection seems to be there, but nothing is being synchronized. The cloud icon at the bottom of the app flashes briefly, and that’s it. The message “Not synchronized” remains, and in the footer, the sync icon (the cloud) has a light circle in its upper-right corner. When I tap the cloud icon, DTTG tries to sync (the cloud darkens briefly) but then switches to “not synced” again.

Does anyone have an idea what I might be missing? Is it enough to just enable Bonjour on the iPad, or do I also need to set up a sync location there as well? Thanks for any tips!

Chris

PS: English isn’t my mothers tongue, so I used AI for translation.

There should be a triangle on the sync icon in the bottom toolbar. Tap the icon. What is reported?

No, there is no triangle. There‘s only the cloud-symbol with a light circle on the top right. If pressed, the cloud darkens, then get‘s clear again with that circle on the top right corner. I would attach a screenshot if possible, but can‘t see that option here in the board.

if I press the cloud-symbol longer, I see the names of the databases whch should be synced. But that doesn‘f happen. All databases have the comment „not synced“…

On DEVONthink To Go’s databases screen, tap the ? > Contact Us to start a support ticket.

Thanks. I did!
