The other day I got an error from raindrop.io, and it got me wondering why I wasn’t using DEVONthink for bookmarks and for keeping a list of things to read. So today I decided to try it.
In DEVONthink To Go, I can share to DEVONthink, and the “Clip to DEVONthink” window opens with the selected text in the comments, the correct URL, and the page title as the clipping title. Hit right arrow, Bookmark, done.
In Safari on macOS, I click the DEVONthink Safari extension icon. It opens the window to add a bookmark, but it doesn’t include the selected text. I found this comment suggesting that it should work, any ideas what might be wrong?
Next thing I tried was to put the sorter in the menu bar and click that. If I select the last tab, it says “Capture Content from…” with a grayed out Safari icon (plus a couple of others). I click the Safari icon and DEVONthink produces a dialog saying “Unable to clip from Safari. Check DEVONthink has rights to access the web browser and that the active tab has a URL.” In the System Settings under Privacy and Security > Automation, DEVONthink has the right to control Safari. Is there some other setting I’m missing?
Sonoma 14.5, DEVONthink 3.9.6, Safari 17.5.
