I am looking for a new all in one, and have been looking at the Brother MFC-7440N and the MFC-7840W. The look to be the same units with the exception that the 7840 has wireless. They both scan over the network, something we would like to have here, as I have multiple systems on the network. Has anyone used these with Devonthink? Any problems using the scanning functions?

At the moment we do not support scanning over the network if that is supported by Image Capture for your scanner. And neither does ExactScan. But if you use the application that ships with the Brother, I seem to remember it allows you to send the scan output to a particular application and we support that.
Annard is correct. Brother’s Control Center lets you set up scanning into specific documents using the Custom Scan button.
