Can't import Apple Notes into DT

Running Sonoma 14.1.1, DT Pro 3.9.4, Apple Notes 4.11.

Have enabled On My Mac Account in Notes settings.

In a DT database, I select File / Import / Folders & Attachments from Notes … and nothing happens.

Anything else I should be doing to import Apple Notes into DT Pro?

Is DEVONthink 3 allowed to automate Notes, see System Settings?

Yes it is.

And does it also have full disk access?

Aha!

It does now. Thank you.

One further question: now is there a way to have DT import from Notes only new or changed items, or will it do a total import of all Notes every time?

It imports all and will create duplicates. It’s not intended for syncing Apple Notes.

Got it - thanks.

The next release will show an alert in case of no full disk access and include the option to open the system settings on demand.

Is there a way to move a single note from the Notes app into DEVONthink Pro? Drag and drop doesn’t seem to work to do that.

Notes offers a “Share” menu at the top of its window, where I can see “DEVONthink 3” – doesn’t that work?

Drag and drop doesn’t work in some Apple apps since there’s no backing file associated with it. You’re looking at entries in a database table.

@chrillek is correct on this.
There’s also the File > Export as PDF option you could use, saving it to the Inbox’s sidebar alias in the Finder.

Thanks; that works nicely. Chrillek asked whether the Share menu works to do what I want. I tried that, and I get a dialog box asking me to “Create a link with Add to DEVONthink 3 to add people to collaborate with on this document,” but I don’t see how to work with this. Hmm.

You need to click the dropdown in the Share menu and change it from Collaborate to Send Copy.
Click Add to DEVONthink 3 to open the Sorter and clip the content.
To preserve the look, switch to Rich Text format.

Excellent. This is great. Thank you!

You’re welcome

I just successfully brought all my Apple Notes into DT without “Enabled On My Mac Account” toggled on in Notes settings.

Has this requirement changed? In this May 2023 blog post is says it’s required: DEVONtechnologies | How to Switch from Apple Notes

I’m not expecting blog posts to be updated as things change, just wondering if the Notes Settings requirement is different now

At this time, the On My Mac account in Apple Notes isn’t required as of macOS Sequoia. However, allowing DEVONthink Automation permissions for Notes, is required.
