Can't Use DevonThink to Go on my Iphone

I’ve had the paid version of Devonthink for many years. Today I wanted to try it on my iphone. I downloaded Devonthink To Go for the iphone. I’ve tried for 3.5 hours to get it to sync to my macbook. I can only see Global folders. I’m using Icloud Legacy
On the iphone I get to the screen that says at the top Icloud Legacy.
Below that is Global Inbox. that works.
Below that is Nick Walsh Remote

But when I click the toggle is says
Authentication
Nick Walsh
User Name
password

I’ve tried everything I know for the past 3.5 hours.
Whose username is is looking for? Icloud? or what?
there is no username on my Mac app.

I know realize why I haven’t used this app for the past 6 years.

Posting screenshots would help

The problem is not on my mac. It’s on my phone. I can’t get screenshots of the iphone. I’ll go to youtube and see if anyone knows. Failing that, I’ll just leave Devon. Way too complicated. I have KeepIt, Yojimbo, and Evernote, as well as Bear, and Ulysses. NONE are this complicated. You would think on the phone when I asks for user name, it would add relative references… .like YOUR IPHONE USERNAME etc. I have no username for Devon.

Have you looked in the manual? Under Sync > Sync Basics, p. 41 it says:

Note: If there is a username and password entered for a database in DEVONthink’s File > Database Properties or the Info popover for a database in DEVONthink To Go on another device, you will be prompted to enter these credentials when you try to import the database. This allows you to add a second layer of security for syncing.

And what do you mean you can’t get screenshots on your phone? Does it have some special security measures or something?

This is not a sync issue at all nor is it “complicated”. You are seeing this because you added authentication credentials to the database in DEVONthink on the Mac. Those purpose of those credentials is clearly stated in the File > Database Properties in DEVONthink.

For example…

and from Windows > Database Properties in the built-in Help and manual

So the follow-up to you @Rangefire is what is in the Database Properties for your database?

Here is the screen shot. As you can see, it doesn’t specify which username to use. I have 470 different accounts with passwords. So, which one should I start with? I tried my icloud username and password. Reject. I tried all my 30 google usernames and passwords. All rejected. This really sucks.

Trying that now, but… say unable to verify

I tried to enter the details but it fails.
See screen shot.

I tried the USER: Nick and the password. No go.
Worse yet, It won’t let me cancel out. I have for force quite Devon and start again.

I may have gotten it. It allowed me to lock and change the password. Did that, and now it took on the phone and appears to be syncing… wow. 4 hours at this. Now indexing my 2.2 GB of data. What a pain this was.

Looks GREAT now. I like the way it shows on the iPhone. Other apps, especially apple notes shows the text WAY too small to read. Devon is perfect. and shows the colors I use for sections of my text. This is going to work well now.
Thanks for your patience!

Glad it’s working now. As with many things in DEVONthink, answers to problems are often very simple and logical.

I bought the book on Devon thing that was advertised a year or so ago. I should read it.
I’m just so damned busy! I use AI extensively now and need Devon to keep my files organized. I used AI recently to win two law suites! One against a local Gas Station chain. They had two lawyers. AI crushed them swiftly! But I need to be able to access that data quickly. All other apps fail me. Bear is nice, but doesn’t show well on the phone. Same with Ulysses. Yojimbo is nice on the mac, the developer is a bit of a dick and won’t update the app. Going on three years now. Apple notes is useless. Keepit is fairly decent, but lacks the power of Devon. I need to master this app I think. Then I can cancel all of the other subscriptions.

Seems AI is not the answer to everything. At least not to password organization and reading the manual.
